The old railway coffee shop which used to operate right by the railway lines had to relocate to a shop lot opposite Ling Nam Coffee Shop. This shelf is saved and restored from the aged old shop before its destruction |
|
For sentimental reasons, the shop owner framed photos of its previous patrons. Herewith is a photo extracted from Amoi's blog (http://amoithekampunggirl.blogspot.com/2018/10/paloh-another-malaysian-outback-town-22.html) |

If someone speaks to you from the other end, RUN !!! |
This
morning, Ivy, Jessica, Jasmine and Cindy decided to sit out the ride. With Ivy
as tour guide, the ladies visited some farms and several places in Paloh before
meeting the rest of the gang in Kluang.

We were told these furnace kitchens are the remains of the police quarters built before the World War II |

Everyone had to take a photo at the gate of this farm which was built to welcome the Sultan of Johor during his Kembara Mahkota in 2019 |

Thrilled as the owner personally invited us into her farm ! |

This kind owner who spotted us ogling over her coffee farm decided to surprise us by inviting us into her farm ! |

As for
the rest of us we rode to Kluang, making a brief stop at Paloh’s makeshift
railway station just as we were rolling out before a longer visit in Chamek;
which called our attention to its old world charm of railway station, furnace kitchens
and coffee farms.

Another excitement awaits right after Chamek |

The
idea of visiting Kluang as part of our route to track down railway towns was not
as ingenuine as we had hoped for. Kluang was swarmed by tourists! Unlike Claudine’s
last visit to Kluang Railway Coffee in 2017, the place was jam packed with
patrons and the old railway station, heavily patrolled by police who only allowed ticket holders on the platforms! Yean Kee’s beef noodle was not as delicious as
it used to be and the town’s murals failed to attract some of us who’s been
there several times.
After a short tour, we left quickly, arriving in Paloh, all red and sweaty though those with support cars, were spared the agonizing journey. Amy, Kelvin and Simon's tour ended in Kluang as all 3 were picked up by Jessica, Jasmine and Cindy, respectively. As for the rest of us who completed the tour fully, we enjoyed a cooling down session over beer and pisang goreng before parting ways.
