On the narrow strip of land connecting mainland to Pulau Mawar

On the left side of the island, attempting to get to Heaven's Window. As most of us had seen Heaven's Gate, we decided it was time to visit Heaven's Window but it was a difficult task which we failed in the end!

The attempt begins!

We had to wade around the island

The tide began to come in as we made our way to Heaven's Window

While Chooi lead the way, Wee and Evelyn were the lasts in our group. Mr Tan, Irene and Ling decided to abandon the attempt midway

There were so many times we thought of turning back!!!

Chooi looking tiny on the far right. In between the rocks is Heaven's Gate

Mr Lim caught a fish in his shoe! Certain parts of the seabed were muddy and the mud sucked at our shoes making it difficult to lift our legs. Mr Lim removed his shoes to track faster. When the surface of the seabed became rocky, he decided to put on his shoe only to step on something strange. Poor fish died!

Meanwhile, the water in certain areas has touched our buttocks

We saw a brown patch in the middle of the sea and assumed it was sand bank. Hoping to use the sand bank to cut across to Heaven's Window, we soon found out it was floating seaweed! The rocks here were sharp and slippery which then made us decide to abandon our attempt altogether

A tiny Claudine and an even tinier Chooi. Both had to call and wait for Mr Lim's return. He had hoped to get around the island to the other side!

One shot before turning back

The water at the rock bed was crystal clear

While it was a muddy patch earlier, the water has come in as we made our way back

Gorgeous trees

A hole in the tree

The final march back to our bicycles where Henry and VT had stood guard. We returned to Hotel Jeti Tg Gemuk via Pantai Belukar Juling, Pantai Tanjung Kempit and Pantai Semanyir

Day 2 - Tanjung Gemuk to Kuala Rompin

Summerset Resort, Kuala Rompin aka Hotel California, an abandoned hotel

Just like yesterday, we started the ride with Toto, courtesy of Mr Tan. Photo taken at Let's Coffee & Cafe in Endau, a coffee shop selling decent Mee Hoon Kuih, Cantonese fried noodle (Wat Tan Hor) and chicken rice. They also allowed us to tapau food from Kedai Kopi Jit Tong, located just next door

First ride out after parking our cars at Kuala Rompin

Claudine finally found her mysterious bungalow seen from Google Maps' satellite view!

Group photo!

Maracuya is a Spanish word for passion fruit

The bungalow looks well kept with the sound of dog barkings

Yours truly

On our way to Pantai Hiburan after a quick lunch at Kuala Rompin town

So happy to see bike lane in Kuala Rompin

Cars gave us 1.5 m clearance

Traffic was low on Hari Raya Haji

At the jetty waiting to cross to Lanjut Peninsula

Our bicycles were lowered at least 6 feet down to this boat

Our skipper arranging the bikes

The boats were moored side by side to the jetty. We had to hop from one boat to the next. Here is Pee, releasing the rope so we could set sail
...and we are off!

Everyone gets a chance to steer the boat

We sailed upstream, up to Uncle Hock's Chalet before turning back

Here comes Pee with our bikes

First attempt to get to the airstrip....the gates were locked!

Never give up!

Calling control tower, permission to take off from Lanjut Peninsula

Airstrip is only 761 m. Not enough projection!

Learning to fly

Picnickers treated us to 2 coconuts

Thanks, BB! Sadly, we missed your mum
