4,3,2,1...Up Up and Away (October 23 - 30, 2021), Day 7 and Finale : Langkawi Round Island

Day 7 - Langkawi Round island

Temurun Waterfalls saw very few visitors when we were there

Brand new beach promenade

Right after the car park, on our short walk to Temurun waterfalls

Picnic facilities available at Temurun though shamefully, the toilets were out of bounds

Temurun Waterfalls is said to be the tallest waterfall in Langkawi. It is a 3 tiered fall with a cumulative drop of 200 meters.

Taking our lunch at the base of Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls. The tiger is placed to ward off the monkeys

The climb begins

There are 638 steps to conquer to the top...

...and the top of the falls has an altitude of 480 meters...

...so do take a rest at every opportunity!!!

There are a few facilities at the top

Telaga Tujuh or Seven Wells got its name from the 7 natural pools that was formed from water erosion.

The drop

Some of the wells before the drop

Cable cars can be spotted from the bridge. Perhaps LC, Bernie and Suzie are looking down at us!

May at the bridge with the cable cars behind her. LC had opted to join Bernie and Suzie right after breakfast, possibly because the couple were always ahead of the team. Meeting us at the entrance of Telaga Tujuh waterfalls, she had changed her mind on the climb preferring the leisurely cable car instead.

The water in the wells were super clear

A good dip at midafternoon

Some man made dams for the little ones to enjoy

The waters from Telaga Tujuh flows from Mount Machinchang

Telaga Tujuh Waterfalls. This section of the vertical fall is at the base of the hill, accessible via the service road to the Water Works Department

The vertical falls flows into smaller pools

There are a choice of deep pools...

...and shallow pools!

Very clean

We can still see the cable cars from the falls

Pantai Cenang at 4 pm was too hot for us to bear. Everyone scurried to The Zon for duty free shopping and cafe hopping instead

Appreciation dinner at Teo Seafood Restaurant with Sandra. LC had opted to join Bernie and Suzie at Scarborough at Tanjung Rhu

WE WERE STONED!!!

The sleep when it finally came wasn't too bad but we were not properly rested. Mr Lim who slept in cold and damp conditions woke up with a sore shoulder; an old injury further aggravated when he fell trying to ride on the beach yesterday.

While setting up camp was tedious, packing up was made worst when everything was wet. It was a struggle to get through our routines and when the last pannier was finally hooked onto the bike, we rode out in search of breakfast.

The 5 km ride on all flats to Roti Canai Power was painfully slow. A brief stop at Tanjung Rhu's brand new beach promenade took longer than anticipated when Mr Lim kept us waiting. Initially, we thought he was taking a dump but in actual fact, he had decided to change his attire!

Roti Canai Power nailed it. The food was great despite a long wait which was good as it got us into thinking modes before an extraordinary meeting was called for. Claudine who had been lobbying for round island by car yesterday finally convinced the group to ditch the bikes.

Taking the outer ring road of Jalan Ayer Hangat, we rode furiously back to Chill Suites to drop our bikes and collect our other rented car. Here on, our round island tour began and the rest is history.

4 - 4 Islands (Langkawi, Tuba, Dayang Bunting and Bunting)
3 - 3 boat rides (Pantai Merdeka to Tanjung Dawai, Kuala Perlis to Langkawi, Langkawi to Tuba)
2 - 2 bodies of water (Bukit Merah Lake, Mengkuang Dam)
1 - 1 mountain (Gunung Raya)

Day 8 - Finale

Bernie and Suzie were so kind. They each drove a car in order to ferry May and LC plus all our panniers so we could get to Tanjung Lembung jetty easily.

Second tea break at the convenience store at Tanjung Lembung. There's a canteen behind which we did not visit as non of us were too hungry having dined at Chill Suites

Covered passage for on foot passengers

Fully loaded bikes...

...heavier this time with booze and chocolates!!!

Farewell Dinner. Meng's table had a full meal but Claudine's table were only served rice, vegetables and yam ring. The kitchen made a mistake so Claudine's table were given a meal on the house when she kicked up a fuss!

Both Meng and Mr Lim had thought they had lost their bags. But both bags were kept at May's car, left at Kuala Perlis carpark. Poor Mr Lim who depended largely on his bag for clean laundry ended up having to borrow Meng's !
