The carpark near Istana Bukit Serene was abuzzed with riders after sundown. Our regular Joho Foldies riders have started to congregate in the area. Here and there, were a few new recruits, still not properly inducted into the circle. Then, there were the guest riders from Happy Riders Connect, our friendly community riders!
We rode out after a customary group photo, taken with the Crown Arch and water fountain as a backdrop. Huffing and puffing up Bukit Serene, we circled the palace grounds. Keeping us out were the beautiful wrought iron grills in perpetual black and shimmering gold paint.
The night was still young and some were in a racing mood. When Susanna and Niki came up behind Lucas and Desmond, they blared their horns which triggered them to ride faster. As everyone's speed began to pick up, Irene's pink balloon, in support of breast cancer awareness flew away and so did Claudine's!!!
Cruising downhill on Jalan Straits View, our huge congregation irked quite a few dogs which sent them snarling and barking at us! Thank goodness they were confined within the compounds of the many bungalows, homes to the rich.
At the foot of the hill is Medan Selera Tepian Tebrau, a popular food haunt in JB. We had to weave our way through the cars along this narrow road. Then, we circled Dataran Bandaraya, did a time check on the clock tower before turning left for Jalan Abdul Samad.
We arrived at C.A.T.S. Cafe in no time. This is not your ordinary pets cafe but a "cats at their sanctuary" cafe whereby visitors are NOT allowed to bring their own pets, had to keep proper hand hygiene and show the greatest respect to these feline creatures!
Stepping into the cafe, we were first asked to wash our hands before disinfecting them. Then we were given a briefing on the do's and don'ts. Thereafter, were we then allowed to interact with the cats.
Sipping our iced lemon tea, compliments from Irene of Khass Bicycles, we were charmed by the different breeds of cats in the whole place. They were allowed to roam everywhere! Some of them don't seem to get along with each other ..... and the term "cat fight" does live up to its word! We even saw one falling from a walled cabinet, all the way down to a stand lamp!
Fortunately, electrocuted cat was not on the menu tonight!!! Cats really do have 9 lives. Instead, a huge pandan layered cake was served, decked with candles for Lucas! Happy 26 th Birthday, Lucas!!!
After a good merriment, we left C.A.T.S. Cafe. While, the rest of Joho Foldies rode on further, Claudine and VT had to leave as duty calls. Such are the rues of globalization and internet services...the office comes to you at all unGodly hour!!!
